The patented device, developed through a research collaboration with the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, is designed to hold tree branches at an optimal 90-degree angle from the trunk. This positioning significantly improves light penetration and air circulation—two critical factors in achieving better fruit quality and productivity.

“While initially created for apple trees, the clip can also be used with other fruit-bearing trees requiring structured branch training,” said Shafiee.

“This innovation was born out of real challenges faced in our orchards. We aimed to create a simple, affordable solution that could help farmers increase yield without harming the trees. It’s rewarding to see it making a difference on the ground.”
