Infrastructure Neglect: Yemlar’s 3-Km road awaits repairs
Kupwara, Mar 2: Residents of Yemlar village in the Zachaldara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district are facing severe hardships due to the deteriorating condition of the road connecting their village.
Locals said the three-kilometre stretch branching off from Zachaldara is riddled with potholes at several spots, causing immense inconvenience to commuters. They described the road’s condition as deplorable and alleged that the concerned department has remained indifferent to their plight.
“We have repeatedly appealed to the administration to macadamize the road, but our pleas have gone unheard. During winter, the situation worsens further. At times, we are forced to carry patients on makeshift cots due to the lack of transport,” Noor Mohammad, a resident, told Greater Kashmir.
Another local said that despite assurances from officials that the macadamization of the road was included in official plans, no tangible progress has been made. “Every year we are told the work is in the pipeline, but nothing materialises,” he said.
The residents have urged the MLA from Handwara to intervene and ensure immediate repairs and macadamization of the road to prevent further suffering. They expressed hope that the authorities will prioritise this vital infrastructure need and provide much-needed relief.
