Srinagar, Jun 08: As Eid-al-Adha approaches, observers and dealers say that the influx of sheep into Kashmir from outside has grown with around 60 trucks loaded with sheep arriving daily. The import, they said is expected to continue till the festival arrives.

Despite a huge gap between supply and sales, the General Secretary of Mutton Dealers Association Kashmir, Mehraj ud Din told news agency KNO that from Rajasthani to Jasalmeeri, a variety of breeds are being transported to Kashmir.

He said that the actual figures of the sales would only be known after the Eid.

Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri on Friday directed the officials to ensure availability of sacrificial animals on reasonable prices at all sale spots.
