Srinagar, Mar 29: Inspector General of BSF Ashok Yadav Friday emphasised the increased risk of infiltration attempts from across the Line of Control (LoC) as snow melts and during significant events like elections.

However, he assured that security forces were prepared and vigilant to thwart any such attempts.

Yadav said that the BSF, deployed with the Army along the LoC, was actively engaged in area domination exercises to counter potential infiltration bids during the upcoming elections.

He said that while the possibility of infiltration was constant, it escalated during events like elections, prompting heightened alertness from security forces.

The IG BSF highlighted that with the melting snow opening up infiltration routes, security measures had been intensified.

“Vulnerability maps have been created, and forces are conducting area domination exercises accordingly,” he said.

Yadav expressed confidence in the forces’ capability to prevent any infiltration attempts.

He said that approximately 65 BSF companies were stationed in various parts of Kashmir alongside the J&K Police, bolstering the security grid.

The IG BSF said that their joint efforts aim to ensure smooth elections by maintaining a strong security presence and conducting necessary operations.
