Infiltration bids on LoC in Rajouri alerts security forces
Rajouri, Jul 4: The three successive infiltration attempts on Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri areas, during the last three weeks, have caused a situation of concern for security forces, who have stepped up all the measures of Anti Infiltration as well as Anti Border Action Team.
The hinterland security, especially in villages close to the Line of Control (LoC), has also been scaled up for immediate response towards any infiltration attempt. The three infiltration attempts have taken place on Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri areas with two in Keri and one in Tarkundi.
In Keri area of Line of Control (LoC), falling under the jurisdiction of Rajouri police station, the first infiltration attempt was made on June 13, when a group of four heavily armed terrorists attempted to sneak in from Barat Gala but the attempt was foiled and heavy exchange of gunfire took place between infiltrators and army troops.
Two to three infiltrators are believed to have suffered injuries in gunfire who although managed to return back to other side of Line of Control.
The second infiltration attempt was made on June 23, when a group of three heavily armed terrorists made attempt to sneak in from Line of Control in Keri area but this attempt was also foiled and infiltrators were pushed back.
The third and latest infiltration attempt has been reported on June 29, when a group of four heavily armed terrorists were trying to sneak in from Tarkundi near Rajouri but this attempt was foiled.
An infiltration facilitating guide, resident of Datote village of PoJK, was captured by Army and BSF in operation that was launched after this infiltration attempt was intercepted while it was also reported that the terrorists fell in gorge while trying to flee back and all of them sustained injuries.
Reacting to these three infiltration attempts, official sources said, a situation of security concern has emerged on LoC, where situation is already under close monitoring after Operation Sindoor and situation of war thereafter. They said that after these successive infiltration attempts, the security setup on Line of Control (LoC) has been put on highest possible alertness state in entire LoC from Akhnoor to Poonch falling under White Knight Corps.
The official sources also stated that the existing Anti Infiltration measures have been strengthened in all aspects while measures to foil possible Border Action Team (BAT) attacks have also been bolestered. Alongside LoC, the official sources said, the notorious infiltration routes have also been put under close vigil and surveillance by the hinterland forces to ensure immediate response mechanism towards any situation involving infiltration on LoC. The security forces are already conducting area domination exercises and speculative operations especially in border villages.
Pertinent to mention here that the army authorities have already categorised foiling of these infiltration attempts as success for forces while multiple inter security coordination meetings have been conducted in recent past across Rajouri and Poonch in order to fine-tune the security apparatus while the senior officers of Indian Army have conducted multiple visits in this area during last few weeks with the latest recent visit of GOC White Knight Corps in Romeo Force.
