India’s Techade: Chips for Viksit Bharat | CUK VC leads staff in watching live speech of PM

Ganderbal, Mar 13: Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, Wednesday led the faculty, scholars and students and watched the live speech by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the "India’s Techade: Chips for Viksit Bharat" programme and laying the foundation stone for three semiconductor projects worth about Rs 1.25 lakh crores via video conferencing.

The Schools of Physical Sciences and Engineering jointly organised the seminar on "India’s Techade- Chips for VIKSIT Bharat," at Tulmulla Campus in connection with the live speech by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The live speech was also streamed in all the four campuses of the university and was watched by the faculty, scholars and students.

The Prime Minister described the day as a historic occasion and a significant step towards a bright future for India as foundation stones were laid for three major semiconductor manufacturing projects in Dholera and Sadanand in Gujarat and Moregaon in Assam.

“Today’s projects will play a key role in making India a semiconductor hub”, PM Modi said. He said more than 60,000 colleges, universities and educational institutes were connected with the event. “The youth is witnessing how India is working in a multi-pronged fashion for self-reliance and a strong presence in the global supply chain”, PM added.

Later, in his address to the participants, Vice-Chancellor, Prof A Ravinder Nath stressed on the importance and application of semiconductor technologies, its development in the country through Atmanirbhar Bharat. “The universities should focus on such research work that is socially relevant, locally need-based, nationally important and globally significant,” he said. He added that the young generation must think of such works that contribute to Viksit Bharat by making use of the demographic dividend of the young population who can contribute best to the region, nation and world.

Invited speaker, Dr. Shabir Ahmad Parah, Associate Prof. Deptt of Electronics and Communication, University of Kashmir, emphasised the importance of innovation and technology and discussed topics including patent filing and technological growth. He urged the faculty to cultivate innovative thinking among students.
