India's Grand Mufti writes to PM Modi, extends 'unequivocal Support' for India's stand against terrorism, extremism

Srinagar, May 09: The Grand Mufti of India, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad, in a letter addressed to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, expressed his 'Unequivocal support' to India's stand against terrorism and extremism on Friday. In the letter titled "Expression of Support for India’s Stand and Measures against Terrorism and Extremism", the Grand Mufti prayed for peace, progress, and unity of "our beloved" nation.

He urged all citizens to stand united in support of these national efforts. He said, regardless our backgrounds or faith, we all must act to safeguard the values that bind us as a diverse yet harmonious nation.

In the letter which is with the Greater Kashmir, he said, "At this critical juncture, when our country is steadfastly confronting the menace of terrorism and extremism, I wish to convey my unequivocal support for the strong and principled stance adopted by the Government of India and the courageous efforts of our Armed Forces in safeguarding the sovereignty, unity, and security of the nation."

"Terrorism poses a grave threat not only to national stability but also to global peace and human
dignity. India’s proactive measures to curb the activities of extremist forces—particularly in
regions prone to unrest, such as Kashmir—reflect the government’s deep commitment to
protecting innocent lives and upholding the values of justice and humanity. These actions are
not only essential for national integrity but also serve as a vital contribution to regional and
international peace." He further wrote.

Furthermore, He said, "I am confident that India’s strategic interventions and diplomatic leadership can play a transformative role in countering radical ideologies and promoting sustainable peace across South Asia. Through principled diplomacy, firm resolve, and inclusive efforts, our nation can continue to emerge as a beacon of stability in a turbulent world."

Concluding the letter with a prayer, he wrote, "May the Almighty guide and strengthen the leadership of India in its noble pursuit of peace and security."
