India’s first sports city coming up in Ahmedabad; 7 stadiums to be ready before 2030: DyCM Gujarat
Ahmedabad, Feb 25: In a major push to sports infrastructure ahead of the 2030 Commonwealth Games, Indiaís first sports city is coming up in Ahmedabad, marking a landmark initiative set to transform the countryís sporting landscape.
Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, Harsh Sanghavi, said that elaborate arrangements were underway as the city prepares to host the prestigious 2030 Commonwealth Games.
Sanghavi was interacting with media persons of Jammu and Punjab-Chandigarh circle who are on a visit to Gujarat under tour organised by PIB Jammu in coordination with PIB Gujarat.
He said that seven state-of-the-art stadiums would be made available in Ahmedabad before 2030, forming the core infrastructure for the mega sporting event.
Highlighting the scale of development, the Sanghavi said that the upcoming sports city would not only house multiple stadiums but also include a world-class sports arena and centres of excellence catering to more than 30 sports disciplines.
He described the project as a first-of-its-kind initiative in the country that will revolutionise the sports ecosystem and create an atmosphere of continuous sporting activity.
Sanghavi said that meticulous planning has gone into every single project to ensure round-the-clock sports engagement and seamless execution of the Commonwealth Games.
He said that Gujarat had undertaken large-scale investments in sports science and already has a dedicated sports policy aimed at nurturing talent and strengthening grassroots development.
Underlining the importance of modern technology, he said the need to integrate sports science and Artificial Intelligence to sharpen athletesí skills and enhance performance standards.
With these initiatives, Ahmedabad is poised to emerge as a premier global sporting destination by 2030.
