Indian railways conducts successful trial run of cargo train on Katra-Reasi section
Jammu, Dec 25: Indian railways on Wednesday achieved another milestone on challenging Kashmir rail link as it successfully conducted a trial run of a loaded cargo train on Katra-Reasi section.
This trial run was conducted in presence of senior officers of Indian railways which is considering the day as a milestone on the Kashmir rail link project.
Pertinent to mention here that the Katra to Reasi section on Kashmir rail link is a missing gap alongwith a small stretch and once completed and connected it will pave the way for straight train connectivity up to Kashmir.
On Wednesday, officials said, a cargo type loaded train trial run was conducted on Katra- Reasi section of this Kashmir rail project. The train was loaded with track ballast stones used on railway track lines, they said.
They informed that the Commissioner of Railway Safety is visiting the areas on Kashmir rail link in the first week of January for the final safety test of Katra - Reasi section of Kashmir rail project before its inaugural ceremony. They further said a load test of the Katra -Reasi section is expected in the next few days.
