Indian police, fire contingent felicitated for winning 613 Medals at world police and fire games 2025
New Delhi, Jul 18: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah felicitated members of the Indian Police and Fire Brigade contingent on Friday for their exceptional performance at the 21st World Police and Fire Games 2025, held in Birmingham, Alabama, USA. The Indian team brought home 613 medals from the international event.
The Home Minister announced that India will host the next edition of the Games in 2029, with venues in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Kevadia, Gujarat. He emphasized broader participation from all police forces across the country and underlined the government’s focus on developing a strong sports culture within security forces.
The event also saw the distribution of over Rs 4.38 crore in incentives to the medal winners. Senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and police services were present.
Shah highlighted several initiatives by the Home Ministry to boost sports within police and paramilitary forces, including forming specialized teams, relaxing recruitment rules, and enhancing training infrastructure. He reiterated the government’s commitment to developing India as a global sports hub and mentioned ongoing bids to host the Olympics, Commonwealth, and Asian Games in India.
