Indian Parliamentary delegations’ lands in Italy, Greece to rally support against cross-border Terrorism

New Delhi, May 28: As part of India’s global outreach following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, parliamentary delegations that have been visiting different countries in different continents, two of the delegations arrived this week in Italy and Greece, two critical stops in New Delhi’s campaign to build international consensus against cross-border terrorism.

The visits, led by senior lawmakers from across the political spectrum, mark a continuation of India's post-attack diplomatic push, but also represent a new phase targeting Europe’s political and strategic heartlands. The delegations aim to amplify India’s message of zero tolerance toward terrorism and seek stronger global partnerships in counter-terrorism efforts.

In Rome, a nine-member delegation led by BJP leader and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad is engaging with Italian parliamentarians, think tanks, media, and the Indian community.

Meanwhile, in Athens, a separate multi-party delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi is holding meetings with Greek lawmakers and foreign ministry officials, along with members of civil society and the diaspora. The focus remains on mobilizing support for a coordinated global response to the growing threat of state-sponsored terrorism. These latest stops in Europe are part of a broader outreach programme that has seen seven Indian delegations fanned out to key global capitals. The message is consistent: terrorism must be confronted not just nationally but as a shared international responsibility.

Indonesia on Wednesday extended its support to India's fight against terrorism in all possible forums as an all-party parliamentary delegation led by JDU MP Sanjay Kumar Jha arrived here with a mission to convey New Delhi's unequivocal stance against the menace reports PTI. The delegation met Indonesian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Arief Havas Oegroseno and "conveyed that the attack on innocent civilians at Pahalgam was an attempt to disrupt peace and drive a wedge between communities," the Indian Embassy in Jakarta posted on X. "(The) Indonesian side reiterated its condemnation of the terrorist act and extended support in the fight against terrorism in all possible forums," it said.
