Indian Army contingent departs for joint military exercise in Australia
New Delhi, Oct 12: An Indian Army contingent of 120 personnel has departed for Irwin Barracks in Perth, Australia, to take part in the fourth edition of the India-Australia joint military exercise AUSTRAHIND 2025, scheduled from October 13 to 26.
The contingent is being led by a battalion of th e Gorkha Rifles, supported by troops from various other arms and services.
Exercise AUSTRAHIND 2025 aims to enhance defence cooperation, improve interoperability, and provide a platform for both armies to exchange tactical knowledge and operational experience in sub-conventional warfare, particularly in urban and semi-urban settings.
This year’s edition will focus on joint company-level operations in open and semi-desert terrain. The participating troops will undertake missions involving joint planning, tactical manoeuvres, and special arms training.
The exercise will also provide an opportunity to integrate emerging technologies and sharpen combined combat skills.
