Anantnag, Oct 23: In a significant step towards enhancing patient care and medical education in Kashmir, the National Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) has come forward to provide life support training to local pediatricians and pediatric residents.

The IAP Advanced Life Support (ALS) workshop has been organised by the Department of Pediatrics at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, in collaboration with the IAP Acute Life Support Basic Life Support (IAP-ALSBLS) group.

Dr Vipul Gupta from GMC Chandigarh serves as the Course Director, while Dr Showkat Hussain Tali, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Pediatrics at GMC Anantnag, is the Course Coordinator.

The master national trainers leading this initiative include Prof A. K. Rawat, Dean of GMC Sagar, Madhya Pradesh; Prof. Pradeep Dabata of VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi; Prof. Shalu Gupta of Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi; Dr Suresh Kumar of PGI Chandigarh; and Dr Pankaj Kumar from GMC Chandigarh.

The course is being conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr) Rukhsana Najeeb, Principal and Dean of GMC Anantnag.

Pediatricians and pediatric residents from across the Kashmir region have registered for this training, which aims to enhance their skills in managing acute medical situations.

Several prominent medical professionals attended the event, including Prof. Muzaffar Jan, Head of Pediatrics at GMC Srinagar; Prof. Bashir Ahmad Charoo, Head of Pediatrics and Neonatology at SKIMS Srinagar; Prof. Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmad, Professor of Pediatrics at GMC Anantnag; Prof. Mohd Ashraf Bhat of GMC Anantnag; Prof. Reyaz Ahmad Malik, Head of Pediatrics at SKIMS Medical College; Dr Suhail Ahmed Choh, Head of Pediatrics at GMC Baramulla; Dr Irshad Bhat, Head of Pediatrics at GMC Handwara; and Dr Mubashir Hassan Shah, neonatologist at GMC Srinagar.
