New Delhi, Jan 2: The India-UAE Joint Military Exercise, “Desert Cyclone” begins in Mahajan, Rajasthan, from January 2 to January 15. Marking the commencement, the UAE Land Forces contingent, consisting of 45 personnel from the Zayed First Brigade, has arrived in India to partake in the bilateral military drills, officials said.
Simultaneously, the Indian Army contingent, also comprising 45 personnel, is primarily represented by a Battalion from the Mechanised Infantry Regiment. The overarching objective of 'Desert Cyclone' is to boost interoperability in Sub-conventional Operations, with a specific focus on Fighting in Built-Up Areas (FIBUA) within desert and semi-desert terrains. This falls under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, addressing Peacekeeping Operations.
The joint exercises are poised to enhance cooperation and interoperability between the two sides, specifically during Peacekeeping Operations. Planned drills during 'Desert Cyclone' include the establishment of a Joint Surveillance Centre, Cordon and Search Operations, Domination of Built-Up Areas, and Heliborne Operations.
These exercises are designed not only to refine military capabilities but also to foster collaborative partnerships and facilitate the exchange of best practices between India and the UAE. The significance of “Desert Cyclone” extends beyond military strategy, symbolizing the deepening bonds of friendship and trust between India and the UAE. The exercise aims to accomplish shared security objectives and further strengthen bilateral relations, reflecting the commitment of both nations to regional stability and cooperation.
