India to observe State Mourning on Apr 26 for Pope Francis’ funeral

New Delhi, Apr 24: The Government will observe State Mourning on Saturday, April 26, 2025, the day of the funeral of His Holiness Pope Francis, Supreme Pontiff of the Holy See, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced in a statement.

As a mark of respect, the National Flag will be flown at half-mast throughout the country on all buildings where it is regularly displayed. Additionally, there will be no official entertainment on the day.

This marks the final day of a three-day State Mourning declared by the government. Two days of mourning were previously observed on April 22 and 23 following the passing of the Pope
