India to host record 35 nations for Admiral’s Cup 2025 at naval academy
New Delhi, Dec 7: Indian Naval Academy (INA) at Ezhimala is set to host the 14th edition of the Admiral’s Cup from 8 to 13 December 2025, bringing together one of the world’s most respected naval sailing championships.
This year’s event will see participation from 35 countries, its highest-ever turnout, reflecting the growing global stature of the competition. Established in 2010, the Admiral’s Cup was conceived to foster camaraderie, maritime cooperation and mutual understanding among officer trainees of friendly foreign navies.
Over the years, it has evolved into a premier international sailing contest, attracting some of the finest young sailors from naval academies across the world.
The races follow the Match Racing format, using ILCA-6 class sailboats, which demand sharp tactical skill, strong physical endurance and refined seamanship.
Teams from Asia, Europe, Africa, Oceania and the Americas will compete this year, showcasing a wide spectrum of maritime traditions and training cultures.
The event not only encourages healthy competition but also helps build professional bonds among future naval leaders.
INA’s modern training infrastructure, purpose-built sailing complex and the favourable coastal conditions of Ezhimala provide an ideal backdrop for the championship.
Visiting delegations will also participate in cultural programmes and interaction sessions, offering them a glimpse into the academy’s ethos and India’s naval heritage.
