New Delhi, Aug 15: India is set to host the 3rd Voice of Global South Summit on August 17 continuing its commitment to amplifying the perspectives of developing nations on a global platform. This initiative, which aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas,’ is deeply rooted in the Indian philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, or “the world is one family.” The summit aims to unite countries from the Global South to discuss shared challenges and priorities across a broad spectrum of issues.

India first hosted the Voice of Global South Summit (VOGSS) virtually on January 12-13, 2023, followed by the second edition on November 17, 2023. Both summits saw participation from over 100 countries and served as a critical avenue for developing nations to voice their concerns and contribute to global discussions, particularly within the G-20 framework under India's presidency last year. The insights gathered from these summits were instrumental in shaping the G-20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration.

The upcoming 3rd VOGSS, themed “An Empowered Global South for a Sustainable Future,” will build upon the discussions from the previous summits, addressing ongoing global challenges such as conflicts, food and energy security crises, and climate change—issues that disproportionately affect developing countries. The summit will facilitate continued dialogue on developmental priorities, solutions, and the collective aspirations of the Global South.

The Voice of Global South Summit has emerged as a significant platform for countries in Latin America, Africa, and parts of Asia to share their perspectives, challenges, and priorities. By fostering dialogue and cooperation among these diverse nations, the summit seeks to promote sustainable development, address climate change, and advance social equality. The outcomes of these summits have the potential to shape UN policies and strengthen partnerships among member states, with rotating leadership ensuring a truly inclusive approach.
