India sends food aid to earthquake-hit families in Afghanistan
New Delhi, Nov 3: Reaffirming its continued support for the Afghan people, India has delivered food supplies to families affected by the recent earthquake in Afghanistan’s Balkh, Samangan, and Baghlan provinces.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said in a post on X that he spoke with Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi to convey condolences over the loss of lives caused by the earthquake.
“Called FM Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi of Afghanistan this afternoon to convey condolences at the loss of lives in the earthquake that struck Balkh, Samangan and Baghlan provinces. Indian relief material for the earthquake impacted communities is being handed over today. Further supplies of medicines to reach soon,” Jaishankar said. He added that the two also discussed progress in bilateral relations since Muttaqi’s recent visit, noting the improving people-to-people ties and an exchange of views on the regional situation.
