New Delhi, May 09: Army said it successfully repelled a wave of drone and missile attacks launched by Pakistan late Thursday night, as tensions between India and Pakistan flared once again. Several military installations, including in Jammu and Pathankot, were reportedly targeted, though no damage was confirmed.

The Army, in a press release posted on X (formerly Twitter), stated, “OPERATION SINDOOR: Pakistan Armed Forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along entire Western Border on the intervening night of 08 and 09 May 2025. Pak troops also resorted to numerous cease fire violations (CFVs) along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The drone attacks were effectively repulsed and befitting reply was given to the CFVs. #IndianArmy remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Nation. All nefarious designs will be responded with force.”

Security forces also said the Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted a major infiltration attempt along the western front, part of what officials described as a coordinated offensive from across the border.

While India has refrained from escalating retaliatory action beyond “befitting replies,” the nature and scale of the attacks, described by officials as simultaneous strikes have heightened fears of a broader conflict.
