India, Nepal hold 7th Boundary Working Group meeting in New Delhi
New Delhi, Jul 29: The seventh meeting of the India-Nepal Boundary Working Group (BWG) was held in New Delhi on July 28–29, 2025, marking a renewed push to strengthen bilateral coordination on boundary-related matters after a six-year gap.
The Indian delegation was led by Hitesh Kumar S. Makwana, Surveyor General of India, while Prakash Joshi, Director General of Nepal’s Survey Department, headed the Nepali side.
Both sides reviewed the progress made since the sixth BWG meeting in August 2019 and jointly adopted updated modalities for the inspection, repair, and maintenance of boundary pillars along the India-Nepal border. They agreed to expedite implementation of these procedures to ensure timely upkeep of the boundary infrastructure. The meeting also finalised a three-year work plan and emphasized the use of the latest technologies in carrying out boundary-related tasks. It was further agreed that the next meeting of the Survey Officials Committee (SOC) will be hosted by Nepal, with dates to be decided through mutual consultation.
