India-Mongolia Joint Military Exercise ‘Nomadic Elephant’ Concludes in Ulaanbaatar
New Delhi, Jun 13: The 17th edition of the India-Mongolia Joint Military Exercise NOMADIC ELEPHANT concluded today in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The closing ceremony was attended by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, Director General Operational Logistics and Strategic Movement.
The Indian Army contingent, comprising 45 personnel primarily from the Arunachal Scouts battalion, participated in the two-week-long exercise.
The joint drills focused on enhancing interoperability between Indian and Mongolian forces in semi-conventional operations, particularly in semi-urban and mountainous terrain under a United Nations mandate.
The Defence Secretary praised the professionalism and dedication of the Indian troops, calling the exercise a reflection of the strong friendship and shared values between India and Mongolia. He emphasised that such engagements contribute meaningfully to regional stability and demonstrate India's commitment to global peacekeeping. Defence Secretary is also scheduled to attend the opening ceremony of Exercise KHAAN QUEST 2025 tomorrow at the same venue. The multinational exercise, involving the Indian Army as one of the participants, will take place from June 14 to 28.
