India, Kenya hold third round of Foreign Office Consultations in Nairobi
New Delhi, Feb 5: The third round of Foreign Office Consultations (FoC) between India and Kenya was held in Nairobi on February 3, 2026. The talks were co-chaired by Janesh Kain, Joint Secretary (East & Southern Africa) in India’s Ministry of External Affairs, and Ms Jane Makori, Deputy Director General (Asia and Pacific Directorate) in Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign & Diaspora Affairs.
On the sidelines of the consultations, Kain met Kenya’s Principal Secretary for Trade, Ms Regina Ombam, and also visited the Mahatma Gandhi Library at the University of Nairobi.
During the meeting, the two sides carried out a comprehensive review of bilateral relations across a wide range of sectors, including political engagement, trade and investment, defence and security cooperation, digital public infrastructure, development partnership, agriculture, health, culture and people-to-people ties. Both sides agreed to convene meetings of the Joint Commission, Joint Trade Committee and the Joint Working Group on Agriculture at an early date.
India and Kenya also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. They noted with appreciation the close coordination between the two countries at the United Nations and other multilateral fora. The Indian side said it looked forward to high-level participation from Kenya at the upcoming AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. It was agreed that the next round of Foreign Office Consultations would be held in India at a mutually convenient date.
