India issues travel advisory for nationals in Iran, Gulf
New Delhi, Feb 28: The Government of India has issued travel and safety advisories for Indian nationals in Iran and several Gulf countries following rising tensions after US and Israeli strikes on Iran and subsequent retaliatory attacks.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said it is ìdeeply concerned at the recent developments in Iran and the Gulf regionî and urged all sides to exercise restraint and prioritise civilian safety.
It said that Indian missions in the region are in close contact with the Indian community and have issued appropriate safety guidance.
The Embassy of India in Tehran advised:
ìIn view of the developing situation, all Indian nationals in Iran are advised to exercise utmost caution, avoid unnecessary movements and remain indoors as far as possible. Indians may also continue to monitor the news, maintain situational awareness and await any further guidance from the Embassy of India.î
Emergency contact numbers have also been shared for assistance.
Indian missions in Gulf countries including Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have similarly advised nationals to remain vigilant and follow local security instructions.
In the UAE, the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi urged citizens to ìavoid unnecessary travel, take due care and remain vigilant.î
The advisories come amid reported airspace closures and flight disruptions across parts of the Gulf region.
The government has advised Indian travellers to monitor official updates and consider postponing non-essential travel until the situation stabilises.
