India hands over consignment of relief materials to flood-hit Nepal

New Delhi, Oct 9: In a continued effort to assist those affected by the recent floods and landslides in Nepal, the Government of India has delivered a second consignment of relief materials, a press release issued by the Indian embassy in Kathmandu read.

The handover ceremony took place today at Nepalgunj, with Narayan Singh, Second Secretary at the Indian Embassy in Nepal, presenting the materials to Mr. Datta Raj Hamal, Assistant Chief District Officer of Banke.

The consignment, weighing 21.5 tonnes, includes essential supplies such as hygiene kits, medicines, mosquito nets, life jackets, sleeping mats, food items, gum boots, inflatable rubber boats, and motors. This delivery follows India’s previous assistance, demonstrating its ongoing support for Nepal during this critical time.

The recent floods and landslides have caused widespread devastation in several regions of Nepal, leaving thousands of families displaced and in urgent need of aid. The Government of India has been actively coordinating with the Government of Nepal to ensure timely delivery of humanitarian assistance to those most affected.

“We remain committed to providing all necessary support to our Nepali brothers and sisters during this difficult period,” said the Indian Embassy in a press release. “Further consignments of relief materials are expected in the coming days to address the immediate needs of the flood-affected families.”
