New Delhi, Feb 22:  External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar met with Danish Foreign Minister Mr Lars Løkke Rasmussen during the sidelines of the Raisina Dialogue, marking the 75th year of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The ministers engaged in discussions covering bilateral, regional, and international matters of mutual interest.

Both ministers signed a mobility and migration partnership agreement between India and Denmark. This agreement aims to facilitate smoother movement and migration between the two nations. Additionally, they expressed intentions to explore collaboration in recruiting Indian healthcare professionals for employment opportunities in Denmark.

As part of the commemoration of the milestone in diplomatic relations, a joint logo was unveiled by the ministers.

Furthermore, they acknowledged the fruitful outcomes achieved through the Indo-Danish Green Strategic Partnership and agreed to conduct a mid-term review in 2024 to update the India-Denmark Joint Action Plan (2021-26). Additionally, they discussed establishing a Centre of Excellence on Smart Water Resource Modelling and enhancing cooperation in medical product regulation. The Indo-Danish Green Strategic Partnership continues to catalyze intensified cooperation between the two nations.

Looking ahead, both ministers pledged to diversify the Indo-Danish partnership into new domains such as defence, security, and technology. They also explored the potential for Danish involvement in the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative.

Foreign Minister Rasmussen, accompanied by an official delegation, visited India from February 21 to 22, 2024, participating in the 9th edition of the Raisina Dialogue.

The strengthening of relations between India and Denmark highlights the growth and collaboration witnessed in recent years, through visits by Prime Minister Modi to Denmark in 2022 and Danish Prime Minister Frederiksen's visit to India in 2021.
