Independence Day functions held in Uri
Srinagar, Aug 15: Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Uri, Javaid Ahmad Rather, on Thursday said that the government is working to bring the border town Uri on the tourism map.
“You would have seen this year a huge rush of visitors travelling to Kaman Post in Uri. The authorities are working to bring Uri on tourism map and many tourism spots are being developed in Uri,” Rather stated while addressing the public at mini stadium Uri after hoisting the tricolour.
He assured the community that both the police and administration are available to address any grievances of the general public.
On the 78th Independence Day, after hoisting the national flag SDM Uri took salute from Police and NCC cadets. Several cultural programmes were also held on the occasion by the students of various schools.
Appreciation awards were presented to the employees of different government departments for their outstanding work. Kashmir Uzma daily reporter from Uri, Zaffer Iqbal was also felicitated on the occasion for his outstanding work in the field of journalism.
In a separate event held at Uri court, Sub-Judge Uri, Fozia Paul celebrated Independence Day and hoisted the national flag.
The ceremony was attended by members of Bar Association Uri, staff members of TLSC Uri, Panel lawyers and PLVs of TLSC Uri.
