Inaugurated twice in 6 months: Local residents question ‘double inauguration’ of Kunzar’s Kralweth kindergarten school
Baramulla, Jun 26: The repeated inauguration of a kindergarten school at Kralweth Kunzar in north Kashmir's Baramulla district has stirred public curiosity and concern among the general public.
Initially the school was inaugurated by MLA Gulmarg, Farooq Ahmad Shah in December last year, and again, just over six months later by the Minister of Education Sakeena Itoo on June 23 this year. The repeated ribbon-cutting has raised serious questions among local residents, and the stakeholders about the use of public resources, and political intent.
The locals here believe that the repeated inauguration involves both time, money and engagement of government machinery, which is nothing but wastage of resources.
The concerned stakeholders are now questioning if the school was incomplete during the first inauguration then why inauguration ceremony was held, if it was complete then why was the second inauguration ceremony organised. “It seems the event was just to take political mileage considering the close political rivalry in the area,” said a local resident.
While terming the twice conducted inauguration of the school unnecessary, a local resident said, “If the school was not ready in December then shall one assume that the first inauguration was misleading”.
Chief Education Officer Baramulla, AK Raina while commenting on the issue said that the education minister was already scheduled to visit the area and in an endeavor to provide her the overview of the school, she was requested to be part of the event. “I didn’t have any idea of its initial inauguration. Since the education minister was in the area, she was requested for the inauguration of the school which is a model kindergarten school in the area,” he said.
