Srinagar, July 04: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Friday permitted the 8th Muharram procession for the third year in a row to take place along its traditional route—from Guru Bazar to Dalgate. Thousands of mourners participated in the early morning procession, held under tight security and with the support of community volunteers.
The procession began at 5:00 AM, moving through Budshah Kadal and Maulana Azad Road before concluding at Dalgate.
To manage the flow, traffic was diverted through alternative routes, including Residency Road, Hari Singh High Street, Jehangir Chowk, and other internal roads. Designated parking areas were arranged at Gindun Park and SP College to accommodate commuters.
