In an Era of Artificial Intelligence
Emotional intelligence enables emotions, leadership, adaptability, collaboration, excellent customer service and ethical decision-making. It provides bundle of solutions to potential alarming issues arising due to AI, such as job displacement and dehumanization.
In current scenario, we all are now familiar with the Artificial intelligence and we may have gone through various articles in respect to AI and its usage in world. Artificial intelligence (AI) is advancing with a rapidly pace, soon after the development of chatbots by OpenAI, ChatGPT, Google, Microsoft and others. No doubt AI delivers enormous productivity gains, but it lacks human emotional intelligence — the ability to understand, monitor, plan, empathize and connect on an emotional level. AI can improve learning, through personalized recommendations and adaptive learning platforms. However, it cautions the reader that AI lacks human creativity, emotional support and cultural awareness.
Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to manage both your own emotions & understand the emotions of people around you. Self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills are the basic key elements of the EI. Self-awareness involves understanding one’s emotions and the way they influence decisions. Self-regulation is the ability to manage emotions despite any circumstances, even when facing difficult emotions like anger or anxiety. Empathy is the ability to comprehend and connect with someone else’s situation, also known as “putting yourself in their shoes”. Social skills embody all aspects of building and maintaining healthy relationships, including teamwork, conflict resolution, communication, and problem-solving.
Artificial intelligence lacks all the protocols of the Emotional intelligence and executes as per the data and commands from the users. AI’s adaptation is primarily data-driven and lacks the depth of emotional understanding that comes naturally to humans through emotional experiences. EI, rooted in human empathy and emotional awareness, allows individuals to adapt to complex social dynamics and navigate emotional situations with sensitivity. AI gives a slap to the mental health of the person who is working in an organization at any level and has reached the levels by passing various skills and struggles. No doubt the AI is making the things ease with just few clicks away and has changed the scenario in many ways, but apart from the same, the organizations should come forward to enhance the role of Emotional intelligence (EI) for the ease and betterment of the employments. With the introduction of artificial intelligence enter into the world, more and more emotional intelligence must enter into leadership.
If I will talk about the basic differences of Artificial intelligence and Emotional intelligence, let me brief it without taking readers much time - AI is related to machines and emotional intelligence is completely related to humans and hearts. AI is the development process of computers & on the other hand, emotional intelligence refers to the handling, management and response of human emotions.
AI automatically analyses various information and rectifies errors, while emotional intelligence works on current and instant information. Emotional intelligence builds the emotional competencies of individuals, focuses on manual labor, while AI is a game of machines and technologies. We as humans offer more to the business world than machines, machines still need to develop their capability to feel emotions, compassion and empathy or to feel like us & our mental health.
We shouldn’t totally depend or change our ways towards AI only, AI is critical when looking towards future and keeping that in considerations we should look forward to take care of human intelligence or we can say emotional intelligence.
