In a changed atmosphere

Now that a popular government is just here, what can an ordinary person in J&K expect from this government? The psychological relief in terms of the restoration of democratic government that ensures a human connect at the very grassroots level is good, but beyond that people have real issues, and they need real solutions.

These issues are all known and there isn't anything new. People are always besieged by the material issues. Apart form the mass scale services provided by the governments all over the world - water, electricity, and roads - there are specific needs for some sections of the people. The blow that the businesses received in J&K, as is indicated by the inputs from any ordinary shopkeeper to a worthwhile industrialist, has contributed to huge economic strain at a very wide scale.

This has resulted in a societal crisis that manifests itself in things like drug addiction, crime, depression and suicide. In the changed atmosphere this government is seen as limited by the lack of powers. But  as a democratic force  it can infuse a new vigour in the youth to work harder for better economic chances. The accumulated problems in J&K may not find solution in the current scheme of things given the new set of rules and regulations.

But a concerned and dedicated leadership can find answers to these problems in ways that may not be  in the usual set of rules and schemes. But by connecting to youth, developing a personalised connection, and uplifting them from hopelessness, this leadership can lay a foundation to a long term change for good. Howsoever difficult a situation, if mind is applied and heart  is in the right place, new avenues can be found. This government and those who are in the leadership positions in it, are up against a huge task.

If they don't prepare well, and apply themselves appropriately, it can result in a big disappointment, and that would be a great disservice to this people. A lot of deliberations are required within this leadership to develop a new mindset, and connect to people in a new format of relations and a fresh scheme of leadership. If that creative and constructive framework is prepared, the energies can be better utilised.
