In a boost to healthcare, Ganderbal gets mobile medical unit
Ganderbal , Aug 4: In a significant initiative aimed at strengthening healthcare access in remote areas, a newly-procured Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) has been allotted to Ganderbal district.
The MMU which reached Ganderbal on Monday was received by MLA Kangan Mian Mehar Ali and senior health officials of district.
This MMU is part of those six newly-procured Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) that were flagged off by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, along with Minister for Tribal Affairs Javed Ahmed Rana recently for deployment across several tribal-dominated districts of Jammu and Kashmir. These state-of-the-art MMUs are designed to deliver comprehensive diagnostic and primary healthcare services directly to the doorsteps of people , including nomadic groups practising Himalayan pastoralism and those residing in remote areas with minimal access to conventional healthcare infrastructure.
The procurement of these MMUs was made possible through a dedicated allocation of Rs 5 crore, released in advance by the Tribal Affairs Department to the Health and Medical Education Department under a broader financial and administrative framework. Officials said that Each Mobile Medical Unit has been meticulously designed as a self-contained mobile health clinic, capable of operating effectively across diverse terrains and climatic conditions. MLA Kangan Mian Mehar Ali has expressed gratitude to the CM Omar Abdullah and Tribal Affairs Minister Javed Dana for allotting one of the MMU for Ganderbal district. He said that it will boost the healthcare in far and remote areas .
