Banihal, Apr 1: National Conference leader (NC) and District President Ramban, Sajjad Shaheen, today urged the government to improve the dilapidated road network in remote areas of Banihal.

According to a press release, he conducted an extensive two-day tour to several villages in the Banihal constituency to assess the issues faced by the local populace.

During his visits to Amkote, Chapnari, Bankoot, Thachi, and Khari, Shaheen interacted with various people from different segments of the society who highlighted problems such as drinking water scarcity and unreliable power supply, particularly troubling during Ramadhan.

NC leader emphasised the dire condition of road connectivity, notably mentioning the deteriorating conditions of the Khari-Mahu road , Banihal-Thachi-Mangit road and Neel -Chamalwas road which exacerbate the locals' hardships. He particularly referred to the frequent blockades of the Nachlana-Khari-Mahu road due to a sinking portion at Hirnihal in Khari Tehsil, expressing concern over the lack of substantial efforts to repair it.

“Complaints regarding non-functional utility services were also received from various areas including Pogal-Paristan, Neel, Sumar, Sarachi, Bajmasta, Chaka, Sarbagni, Bingara, Kumbla, Gool, Sangaldan, Batote, Gandhri, Rajgarh, Maligam, Arimarg, Buzla Senabati, and Tanka, Sumar, Dardahi and other areas,” he said.

Shaheen urged the State administration, led by the Lieutenant Governor, to address deficiencies in healthcare and education, emphasising the urgent need for infrastructure improvement in remote areas, as well as filling vacant positions and ensuring adequate medical supplies in health facilities besides important in the road network in the entire district.
