ILLEGAL EXTRACTION, TRANSPORTATION OF MINERALS: Police seize 6 vehicles in Ganderbal, Awantipora

Srinagar, Sep 10: As part of its relentless drive against illegal mining, Police in close coordination with the Geology & Mining Department seized six vehicles for illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals in Ganderbal and Awantipora.

In Ganderbal, police in close coordination with the Geology & Mining Department seized 3 vehicles (tippers) bearing registration numbers JK09-2680, JK03B-8854 and JK03B-4155 loaded with minerals illegally extracted from Nallah Sindh.

Similarly in Awantipora, Police party of Police Station Pampore headed by SHO PS Khrew seized two tippers in Khrew, bearing registration JK02AT-5249, JK01L-9017 and 01 JCB without registration number, involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated, said a police press release.
