IGP Kashmir sets election deployment strategies

Srinagar, Sep 03: To review the assembly poll preparedness, IGP Kashmir Zone, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, on Tuesday set the election deployment strategies.

Chairing a meeting with the senior Police officers of Kashmir Zone in the conference hall of Police Control Room (PCR), Kashmir, IGP Kashmir briefed the participating officers regarding the overall election preparedness and arrival of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) to J&K.

The meeting was attended by all range DIGs and SSPs of Kashmir Zone through virtual mode and physically attended by SSP PCR Kashmir, SO to IGP Kashmir, SP PC Srinagar, Additional SP PCR Kashmir and other senior officers.

All district SSPs were briefed about the phase-wise deployments available, inter-intra district movement of forces, and their induction and de-induction in the districts.

The IGP Kashmir stressed all district Police chiefs to ensure proper logistics and transportation arrangements for the CAPF in their respective districts.

He also directed that CAPF counterparts may also be involved during the deployment process and all efforts be taken for smooth induction of CAPF and their meticulous deployment plan in all the three phases of the assembly polls.

The district SSPs also briefed the IGP Kashmir about the preparations on the ground and assured that all the necessary measures would be taken to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the elections. The IGP directed the range DIGs and district SSPs to review the preparations at their level, identify the gap areas, and address the issues at the earliest.

The IGP expressed confidence in the capabilities of the Police and the CAPF to provide a safe, smooth, and secure environment for the conduct of elections.
