In a proactive move to enhance and evaluate security measures across Kashmir, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Virdi Kumar Birdi, chaired a comprehensive security review meeting at PCR Kashmir on Monday and directed the officers to take stringent action against anti-national elements.

The meeting was attended by officers including DD IB Nitin Tiwari, DIG Central Kashmir Range (CKR) Srinagar, Sujit Kumar and other top officials.

Additionally, virtual attendance included DIG North Kashmir Range (NKR) Vivek Gupta and DIG South Kashmir Range (SKR) Rayees Muhammad Bhat along with district SSPs and PDs.

Representatives from the Army, BSF, CRPF, CISF, and SB also participated in the discussions.

During the meeting, participating officers provided detailed briefings on the overall security scenario and the measures in place to counter existing challenges.

The discussions ranged from intelligence gathering to threat assessments, with a special focus on emergency response protocols, especially in anticipation of VIP visits and upcoming events such as Republic Day functions.

The IGP Kashmir actively engaged with the officers, fostering discussions on initiatives to maintain law and order and conduct effective anti-terrorist operations within Kashmir.

Emphasising the need for continued efforts and collaboration among different forces on the ground, he underscored the importance of strengthening coordination for seamless information sharing and joint operations.

The IGP urged officers to intensify anti-terrorist operations and take stringent action against individuals or organisations supporting anti-national activities.

One of the key directives from the IGP was to enhance joint patrolling, particularly during the night hours, to thwart any potential terrorist movements.

The meeting also explored the integration of innovative technologies to bolster existing security infrastructure and response capabilities.

Highlighting the significance of precision and coordination, the IGP outlined strategic measures to address potential challenges and uphold the highest standards of security.

Birdi expressed confidence in the preparedness of the security forces and assured the people of their commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment.
