Srinagar, Oct 25: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, on Saturday, stressed the need for adaptive, technology-driven, and community-oriented policing.

In the inaugural address at the conference on emerging security challenges hosted by the Zonal Police Headquarters Kashmir at the Police Control Room, Kashmir, IGP Birdi highlighted the importance of innovation, collaboration, and capacity-building to sustain public trust and ensure effective law enforcement.

The conference was held in pursuance of the recommendations of the DGPs and IGPs Conference-2024.

The event aimed to deepen and institutionalise these recommendations while providing a platform for young officers to share innovative ideas and field perspectives on modern policing challenges.

The deliberations focused on key areas such as crowd management, cyber patrolling, NDPS case investigations, dark web crimes, prison radicalisation, and emerging cybersecurity threats.

During the conference, the officers discussed strategies to strengthen operational frameworks, enhance inter-agency coordination, and adopt proactive measures to counter evolving security challenges.

The senior officers presented field experiences and best practices, sharing insights on modern investigative and operational methods.

Directions were also issued for the observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas across all Police Stations in the Kashmir Zone to promote unity and national integration.

The event concluded with a collective resolve to strengthen coordination, expand capacity-building initiatives, and integrate modern technologies into core policing functions.

The conference was attended by DGP J&K, DGP Coordination PHQ, ADGP CID J&K, IGP Kashmir, IGP Security J&K, IGP Railway J&K, Range DIGs, DIG CID Kashmir, DIG Armed Kashmir, DIG Crime J&K, SSP PCR Kashmir, all District SSPs, DPT J&K, and other senior officers.
