Poonch, Apr 18: For first hand review of ongoing operational mode and also to assess public outreach initiatives, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu zone, Bhim Sen Tuti today visited border district Poonch.

Police, in statement mentioned that his visit commenced with a tour to Special Operations Group (SOG) camps across the district, where the IGP interacted with personnel engaged in counter-insurgency duties.

Pertinent to mention here that the SOG camps across the region have been increased both in terms of number as well as manpower to deal with increasing terror incidents.

He also visited forward areas along the Sangiote and Bhata Dhurian (BG) axis, engaging with jawans and officers deployed there.

Police further said that IGP acknowledged their significant role in maintaining security in sensitive regions and encouraged them to continue performing their duties with vigilance, coordination, and dedication.

The IGP also assessed the operational readiness, infrastructure, and welfare measures in place, and appreciated the professionalism and commitment of the personnel working in challenging conditions, said police.

Later, the IGP Jammu presided over Thana Diwas at District Police Lines (DPL) Poonch with the event witnessed active participation from local residents, civil society members, and senior police officials.

"Multiple public grievances and community-related issues were raised, to which the IGP assured prompt and fair resolution," police stated.

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu zone, BS Tuti in his address during this event stressed the importance of people-friendly policing, transparency, and public trust.

He commended District Police Poonch for their continued efforts to strengthen police-public relations through platforms like Thana Diwas and other outreach programmes. DIG Rajouri-Poonch police range, Tejinder Singh and SSP Poonch Shafket Hussain also addressed the gathering, reaffirming the police department’s commitment to public service with integrity and dedication.
