Jammu, Feb 16: The 1st edition of the Fingerprint Bureau’s Magazine of Jammu & Kashmir Police was formally released on Monday by Sujit Kumar-IPS, Inspector General of Police (Crime Branch), at a function attended by senior officers of the Crime Branch.

IGP Sujit Kumar rolled out a booklet on the "Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures" for Field staff to enhance investigations and improve conviction rate in compliance with MHA guidelines.

The event, as per an official police statement, was organised under the supervision of Mohd Yousuf,  Sr. Superintendent of Police, Fingerprint Bureau, J&K and was graced by the presence of the Director Prosecution, along with all SSPs of Crime Branch, Jammu & Kashmir.

The magazine highlights the strengthening of scientific investigation practices within Jammu & Kashmir Police by issuing the SOPs for the various steps at Chance fingerprint lifting to submitting into National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS) system, and also the latest implementation of the CrPIS system (Measurement Collection Unit), developed by the National Crime Records Bureau under the guidance of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
