Srinagar, Oct 4: International Delhi Public School (IDPS) Zakura, in collaboration with Zakura Police Station, organised a special awareness programme on drug abuse under the theme “Drugs Out, Sports In,” aimed at educating students about the dangers of addiction and promoting a healthy, productive lifestyle.

The event featured debates, speeches, and interactive sessions where students discussed the impact of drug abuse on individuals, families, and society. Teachers and guests encouraged students to act as ambassadors of change and spread awareness within their communities.

Chief Guest SDPO (DySP) Zakura, Ashiq Hussain, emphasised that drug abuse not only destroys lives but also affects families and society. He urged youth to focus on education, sports, and skill development while highlighting the strict legal provisions under the NDPS Act and BNS, 2023, against peddlers. SHO Zakura, Khursheed Reshi, added that community cooperation is essential for eradicating drugs.

Chairman CET, Showkat Chowdhary, Principal IDPS Dr Daisy Sharma, and Director CET & Chowdhary Group Shawan Chowdhary spoke on guiding youth towards positive and constructive activities. The programme concluded with students and teachers taking a pledge to promote awareness, sports, education, and healthy living as an alternative to drugs.
