Identify, dismantle linkages in narcotics trade: SSP Ramban
Ramban, Sep 20: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, Arun Gupta (JKPS), chaired a crime review meeting at the District Police Office (DPO) Ramban on Saturday.
The meeting was convened to assess law enforcement performance and enhance policing effectiveness across the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional SP Ramban, SDPOs, DySP DAR, Senior Prosecuting Officer DPO, SHOs, and Incharge Police Posts from all subdivisions.
During the meeting, a detailed police station-wise review was conducted covering key areas such as ongoing investigations, inquest proceedings, crime trends, the implementation of new criminal laws, and cybercrime management. Emphasis was laid on timely disposal of pending cases and effective execution of court orders.
The SSP also reviewed actions taken against drug trafficking, bovine smuggling, crimes against women, and other social offences. Progress in cases related to missing persons, absconders, thefts, and burglaries was also discussed. Officers were directed to improve court process execution and ensure legal compliance at all levels.
Special focus was given to cases under the NDPS Act, with instructions to identify and dismantle both backward and forward linkages in the narcotics trade.
SSP Arun Gupta issued on-the-spot directions to field officers to maintain investigation quality, conduct rigorous trial follow-ups, and utilise technology-driven methods to improve both investigation and prosecution.
The SSP reaffirmed the commitment of Ramban Police to uphold the rule of law, ensure public safety, and build community trust through professional, transparent, and people-friendly policing. He also encouraged officers to strengthen community engagement, particularly through youth-orientated initiatives and regular police-public interaction.
