Jammu, Jan 9: Rahul Sahai, Chairman of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Jammu Chapter,  called on the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, at Raj Bhawan here.

A statement said that the interaction focused on a range of issues related to trade, commerce and industrial growth in the region, with particular emphasis on safeguarding the interests of local and existing industries.

Sahai urged the administration to consider the inclusion of pending applications under the New Central Sector Scheme package and advocated the announcement of a fresh industrial package for existing and local units on lines similar to NCSS benefits.

He also raised the long-pending issue of Gair Mumkin Khad land and sought its early resolution. In addition, Sahai requested further easing of labour laws through administrative simplification to improve the business environment.

Highlighting public concerns, Sahai drew attention to delays in ongoing infrastructure projects, saying untimely execution had led to traffic congestion and disruption across Jammu city.

He also sought extension of Jammu Development Authority leases for Fruit Mandi, Transport Nagar and Bahu Plaza, and stressed the need for a people-friendly Master Plan prepared with wider stakeholder participation.

Emphasising social harmony and public trust, Sahai suggested strengthening police–public interaction initiatives to enhance community engagement.
