ICAI-J&K branch celebrates CA day

Srinagar, July 2: The Jammu and Kashmir Branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) celebrated the 75th Chartered Accountants Day on July 1, with a series of events combining community service and professional development.

The day began with members and students participating in a blood donation drive and planting 75 trees across various locations to commemorate the Institute's 75-year legacy. A free medical check-up, organized in collaboration with Narayana Hospital, was also part of the morning's activities. The branch extended its community outreach by planting fruit trees at a local girls' school in partnership with Guru Nanak Langar Mission Trust.

In the evening, the branch hosted a seminar on Capital Markets at Royal Park, Jammu. CA Vineet Kohli, Chairman of the J&K Branch, delivered a welcome address highlighting ICAI's growth into the world's largest accounting body, with over 400,000 members and 900,000 students.

The event featured guest speaker CA Bharat Makkar, who shared insights on the impact of understanding capital markets on financial well-being. Ramesh Kumar, , Divisional Commissioner of Jammu, graced the occasion as Chief Guest, emphasizing the crucial role of Chartered Accountants in the financial sector and nation-building.

A significant development during the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between ICAI and Narayana Hospital, aimed at providing enhanced healthcare benefits to ICAI members and their families.

The celebration also recognized newly qualified Chartered Accountants, with some receiving cash awards for outstanding academic performance. Past Chairmen of the J&K Branch were felicitated as part of ICAI's "WE CARE" initiative.

CA Sourav Pargal, Vice Chairman, concluded the event with a vote of thanks, while Dr. Alka Sharma kept the audience engaged with fun activities throughout the evening.
