I.N.D.I. Alliance significant for J&K: Congress
Jammu, Feb 2: Senior Congress leader and former union minister Bhakta Charan Das Friday said that I.N.D.I Alliance had a great significance for Jammu and Kashmir as well besides other parts of the country to safeguard people’s interests and protect democracy.
Responding to media queries on the sidelines of a party meeting, Das also dismissed speculations about state of confusion pervading the Alliance following recent developments. “We believe that all stakeholders, partners will have to work and walk together. Talks continue to address all problems or confusion, if there is any,” he said.
Former union minister asserted that the negotiations regarding seat arrangements with alliance partners were underway by a committee, framed for the purpose.
With regard to assembly elections in J&K, he said he could not see the government intending to hold it (election) before September end. “They have disregarded democratic aspirations of people in many places. It will be better if the elections are held here as early as possible as I strongly believe that the government of the day should respect people’s aspirations, democracy and the Supreme Court’s directives to hold elections,” Congress leader said.
