Srinagar, Mar 22: Real Kashmir Football Club (RKFC) is gearing up for a high-stakes clash against table-toppers Mohammedan SC on Saturday at the TRC Ground in Srinagar.

The encounter promises to be a thrilling affair, with Mohammedan SC seeking revenge after being the only team to suffer a defeat against RKFC this season, and that too on their home turf in Kolkata.

Mohammedan Sporting Club currently leads the I-League 2023-2024 standings with 47 points, courtesy of 14 wins, five draws, and just one loss. RKFC, on the other hand, occupies the third position with 36 points, having secured 10 victories, six draws, and four defeats from their 20 matches played so far.

In a pre-match press conference on Friday, RKFC head coach Ishfaq Ahmad acknowledged the challenge posed by Mohammedan SC, stating, “Playing against Mohammedan SC will be a tough game.” However, he expressed confidence in his team’s abilities, adding, “We also defeated Mohammedan Sporting Club earlier, and that too on its home ground.”

Responding to Mohammedan SC coach Andre Chernyshov’s assertion of seeking revenge, Ishfaq said, “We will play our football. It will be our home advantage. Mohammedan SC has a quality side, and we have to play extremely well to defeat them. If they want to take revenge, good luck to them.”

Both teams are determined to secure a crucial victory, setting the stage for an enthralling encounter in Srinagar.
