1 dies, another injured in Ramban accident
Ramban, Aug 06: One person died and another was injuredin a road accident at Kelamorh area of Ramban on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway today.
The mishap occurred when a truck rammed into the railing of a bridge near Tunnel, T1, at Kelamorh.
Police sources said a rashly driven truck bearing registration number JK05E-6137, on its way to Jammu rammed into guard railing of a bridge. The conductor of the truck died on the spot and the driver sustained injuries. They said on getting information rescue teams of Police and local volunteers rushed to the spot and shifted them to District Hospital Ramban.
Later Police identified the deceased conductor as Sahil Ahmed Khan son of Mohammad Akbar Khan resident of Boniyar district Baramulla. The injured was identified as Abid Rasheed son of Abdul Rasheed resident of Wankara, tehsil and district Baramulla, Kashmir was admitted at District Hospital Ramban for treatment. Doctors treating him at District Hospital said the condition of the injured is stable.
SHO Police Station Ramban Inspector Vijay Kotwal confirmed the incident and said the body of the deceased was handed over to legal heirs after the postmortem and other legal formalities at District Hospital.
He further said a case FIR NO 188 of 2024 under section 281/106 BNS was registered at Police Station Ramban for further investigations.
Meanwhile, vehicular traffic movement remained disrupted for some time due rescue operation at Kelamorh, Ramban on National Highway.
