And finally, I have called us mad. I know this may generate a pinch of discomfort in your guts. Though it’s normal. Amidst rising concrete, ascending intellect, behavioral brilliance, and logical conclusions: who dares to commit a crime to deviate from the ambience that besieges us? Go on a total strike and cling to an aberration: human madness! Is it even a word? Does it exist? Has it ever? Oh! Must have been ages ago, when humans had insufficient capacity to think? To behave themselves? To cultivate relationships? Cultivate relationships, yes!

Madness: a lost entity. There is no place for it to exist now, even if someone tries to bring it forth. If you are up for it, go live on Mars. Or among extraterrestrial beings, entities, whatever. Or join criminals who are given life imprisonment or sentenced to death by hanging in front of the disciplined earthlings. Reason gives us relief. It defines us. It feeds us. It nurtures us. It stands by us when we are born and grieves our death. And then, it sends our vibrations across the cosmos, dances among the stars, and lives forever with excitement. Wild, almost cataclysmic, excitement.

We know we create gaps in our intellect game-showing at times. And that’s completely forgivable. You may witness emotions that come, irrational thoughts that spring up, or the intense urge to defy the besiegement of intellectual order. But that’s not who we are. We are putting on a façade, amusing you with our love for you: we know you like a word thrown here and there, without much coherence or intellectual depth. And you even inexplicably adore it.

You know, if someone comes up to us with questions concerning human folly, as in showcasing sadness or self-talk, we dump him dead. Reviving what’s lost for good, they almost convince us to believe in the seriousness of their matters. But how can we deal with it as the world races ahead, time slips away, profit exchanges hands, and sensible talks fade? We had better deal with understanding how insects form, or how fishes swim, or how dogs bark. That demands tangible conversion of intangible, exceptional human ideas, coupled with an –ology. Makes sense?

How many centuries have passed since human existence? Countless. You tell me, have we gained anything out of living on our irrationalities? See the world, the noticeable world and everything it contains, and decide for yourself: is it worth paying attention to whatever goddamn feeling or emotion comes to you? Would it have let you develop capabilities and convert those into outward projections? No, a big fat no!

Come on. It doesn’t count if at times we weep out of happiness; those are just tears. Nothing more. Resentment? Yes, that flies across our faces if someone treats us poorly. That’s a negligible aspect of your personality. Guilt, hell yah, it burns our skin if we treat others unfairly. No matter, go on. Meaninglessness: no, it doesn’t let us live to the fullest. Hey, we have reasons that act as a scaffolding against ourselves, our reasoning minds. The rest is manageable.

Is it madness to favor your intellect over the clamors of your inner being? Whoa… Let me take a minute…. One day I felt utterly useless and helpless in the face of my emotions when someone reminded me of my youth. Of those early years of my marriage. Of parents gone. Of guilt that ensued fits of furious outburst. I didn’t know how to reason it. Probably… I don’t know how to make anything of it!
