Huge quantity of seized drugs destroyed at IGC Lassipora
Pulwama, Dec 27: A huge quantity of confiscated drugs were on Wednesday destroyed at the Industrial Growth Centre Lassipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The contraband was destroyed by a joint Anantnag team comprising judicial, police and civil administration officials, said a police spokesperson.
“The action was taken following the directions from Session Court, Anantnag”, said the spokesperson.
According to the spokesperson, the confiscated items—drugs and psychotropic substances—involving 65 cases at different police stations of district Anantnag, Qazigund, Kulgam and Anti-Narcotics Task Force ( ANTF) Kashmir were destroyed at Kashmir Health Care System IGC, Lassipora in presence of the constituted committee led by Chief Judicial Magistrate, Anantnag, SP(Ops) Anantnag, DySP ANTF Kashmir, Executive Magistrate, Anantnag and other police officials of the district.
“The destroyed substance included 1.605 kg of charas, 925.6 kgs of poppy straws, 1659 bottles of codeine, 40 grams of heroin, 770 grams of ghanja , 29.61 kgs of fukki, 248 capsules and tablets, 164.810 kgs of bhang bosa and charas powder.”
The people of the area expressed their gratitude to the police for their ongoing efforts to ensure a drug free society, said the spokesperson.
