House gutted in overnight fire incident in Kupwara

Kupwara, Jan 29: A devastating fire incident in Khumriyal Kupwara left an eight member family shelter less after their house was reduced to ashes in an overnight blaze.

One of the family members said that at about 1 am, he received a call from his mother who, along with other family members, was on the ground floor.

"Once I was informed about the blaze, I quickly got up and rushed towards the door. As soon as I opened the door I was engulfed by the raging flames forcing me to jump from the first floor," he said.

He said that belongings worth over 1 crore were lost in the incident while the double story house was damaged completely. The house belonged to Haji Abdul Gani Mir, a resident of Khumriyal Nawabazar.

Police have registered a case in this regard while the cause of the fire is being investigated.
