House gutted in Noorbagh blaze
Srinagar, Dec 8: A house was gutted in a fire incident at Noorbagh area on city outskirts.
As per the officials of Fire and Emergency, the fire incident occurred during late evening hours on Sunday.
The officials said they received information about the fire incident at around 7:40 p.m. They said multiple fire tenders from Batamaloo, Safakadal, and SH pora were pressed to douse the fire.
“We rushed multiple teams of fire and emergency services to control the fire. It is a multi-storey residential structure, and our men are on the job to contain the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be known, and our teams are on the job. The proper assessment of damage will be known after the completion of the operation,” said the official.
Witnesses said chaotic scenes were witnessed in the area as more fire tenders were rushed to douse the flames.
“It is night time and the blaze was looking massive. Many locals rushed to provide help as more fire tenders were arriving on the spot,” said an eyewitness.
Last week, at least three residential houses were gutted in a fire in Srinagar’s Chattabal Danawari locality. Amid the rise in fire incidents in winter, Fire and Emergency officials have urged people to use heating gadgets with caution and take all safety measures to avoid fire incidents.
