Hopeful about early restoration of statehood: Dr Farooq Abdullah
Kangan, Jun 9: National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that he is hopeful about the early restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
He was talking to media persons during his visit to Wangath (Baba Nagri) in Kangan on the occasion of 129th annual Urs of Hazrat Mian Nizamuddin Kiyani (RA). Dr Farooq said,“ We are hopeful that whatever has been assured in Parliament and the Supreme Court regarding the statehood will be fulfilled.
The people have put faith in their elected leaders and they have to redress the issues of people.”
Dr Farooq Abdullah paid obeisance at the shrine of Mian Nizam Ud Din Kiyanvi (RA) at Wangath and offered Fateha. He said that it was due to the unrelenting efforts of such great men as Hazrat Baba Larvi Sahib ( RA) that the people of Kashmir got acquainted with the teachings of Islam. “The relentless services of these revered saints in the field of Islamic learning, Tasawuf, socio-political emancipation of the downtrodden across Kashmir is immense. People travel from different parts of the country to pay obeisance at the shrine,” he said.
Dr Farooq added that there is deep connection between Mian Family and their family for decades. He said that on the occasion he prayed for peace and prosperity of everyone particularly Jammu and Kashmir. “ Whosoever ever comes here does not only seeks blessings and pray for himself but for everyone. A sea of people had come to pay obeisance on Urs,” NC President said.
Earlier, NC posted on X, “ Party President Dr Farooq Abdullah paid a reverent visit to Baba Nagri Lar to pay obeisance at the revered shrine of Hazrat Baba Nizam-ud-Din Kiyanwi (RA) on the occasion of the annual Urs Mubarak. He also visited senior leader and Member of Parliament from South Kashmir, Mian Altaf Ahmad Larwi, on this auspicious occasion.”
